About HowTechMoves

Making technology understandable, one visual at a time.

HowTechMoves turns the systems behind everyday technology into short visual explainers you can watch in seconds.

Most tech explanations skip the part that matters: how the thing actually works. HowTechMoves started on Instagram with a simple idea. If you can see a system move, you can understand it. So every explainer takes one piece of technology and shows what happens inside it, one moving part at a time.

What we make

Three formats with one job: show the mechanism, not just the headline.

  • Short explainers

Short vertical videos that each show how one piece of technology works, from Wi-Fi to face unlock, without jargon or filler.

  • The daily news feed

Every morning, the most relevant tech stories of the day, each summarised in plain language with a focus on how the technology works, and always linked to the original reporting.

  • Written breakdowns

Every explainer has a companion page with a step by step breakdown and key takeaways, for when you want to go one level deeper.

How an explainer gets made

Every video goes through the same four moves before it reaches your feed.

  1. Research

Start from documentation, papers and engineering write-ups, and find the one mechanism that makes the technology work.

  2. Script

Cut the idea down to a few spoken lines. If a sentence needs jargon, it gets rewritten or drawn instead.

  3. Visualise

Turn every line into motion: diagrams, animation and footage that show the process instead of describing it.

  4. Publish

Release it as a Reel, then add the written breakdown and takeaways here for anyone who wants the detail.

See how it works, right in your feed.
